UpandComers.com — A new still of Therese has surfaced! I’ve added it to the gallery, but you can check the thumbnail out below.
Set in the lower depths of 1860s Paris, THERESE is a tale of obsessive love, adultery and revenge based on Emile Zola’s scandalous novel, Thérèse Raquin. Therese (Elizabeth Olsen of “Martha Marcy May Marlene”), a sexually repressed beautiful young woman, is trapped into a loveless marriage to her sickly cousin, Camille (Tom Felton of the “Harry Potter” franchise), by her domineering aunt, Madame Raquin (two-time Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Jessica Lange). Therese spends her days confined behind the counter of a small shop and her evenings watching Madame play dominos with an eclectic group. After she meets her husband’s alluring friend, Laurent (Oscar Isaac), she embarks on an illicit affair that leads to tragic consequences. LD Entertainment has set “Therese”, directed by Charlie Startton, for a September 27th limited release.
Carly Steel catches up with Oscar Isaac, Justin Timberlake, Carey Mulligan and the cast of Inside Llewyn David during this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Isaac, star of Ethan Coen and Joel Coen’s Inside Llewyn Davis, was born Oscar Isaac Hernandez Estrada in Guatemala. A graduate of Lincoln Center’s Juilliard School, the actor and musician was introduced to wider attention this week when the Coen’s new film debuted in competition here at the Cannes Film Festival. The star of the folk music film, Oscar Isaac is also at the center of the spotlight being cast on the movie this week.
Ethan Coen said the other day here in Cannes that, until they finally found Oscar Isaac, he and his brother Joel felt they were screwed. They wondered if they’d written, in the role of a young folk singer, a character that they couldn’t cast. Isaac, on the other hand, believed he was right for the part from the get-go, if only he could get their attention.
As soon as I even heard they were doing [Inside Llewyn Davis], I knew that the last 33 years of my life had been in preparation for this project. I 100% believe that,” Isaac explained during a conversation with FilmLinc Daily in Cannes this week.
Oscar Isaac is set to play Colombian drug lord and politician Pablo Escobar in Brad Furman’s biopic.
The Guatemalan-born American star has apparently landed the lead role in the forthcoming film, reported Deadline. Brad – who directed The Lincoln Lawyer – has been trying to develop the crime saga for some time. The film, which has a script written by Matt Aldrich, is to tell the life story of the ruthless drug kingpin who rose to power in the mid-70s and the tale of his short-lived career in Colombian politics.
Oscar, who has racked up memorable performances in Drive, Sucker Punch, WE and The Bourne Legacy, will next play the title character in the Coen brothers’ music-themed drama Inside Llewyn Davis. He will also star in period drama Therese with Elizabeth Olsen and Tom Felton, and thriller The Two Faces Of January alongside Viggo Mortensen and Kirsten Dunst.
I’ve added a ton of medium and high resolution images of Oscar from his appearance at Cannes, again, on May 26th where he won top honors at the Grand Prix Award. You can check the thumbnails out below as well as his reaction to winning.
