We [ShortList Mag] spoke to Oscar Isaac for the release of The Two Faces of January…and sneaked a few Star Wars questions in as well.
Category: Star Wars: The Force Awakens
For Oscar Isaac, getting a part in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII is literally a childhood dream come true.
HollywoodReporter.com — “Star Wars is a huge part of my family,” Isaac told the British Sunday Times newspaper, saying that he “could not be more excited” to be part of the space opera series. “Collecting toys, throwing themed parties. We had a big one for Return of the Jedi. I came as a gonk droid.”
He also had some words about his Star Wars director. “There are some big movies that are quite good. And interesting, and have interesting stories,” he said. “I think one person in particular is J.J., J.J. Abrams. He makes really good stories. He puts a lot of heart into them. They don’t feel like they’re just exploitive.”
The interview took place two days before Isaac’s Star Wars casting was officially announced, leading to the actor making somewhat obtuse comments about “understand[ing] some secrecy with certain films, not wanting to let [information] out.” He said that some movies “have the element of the unknown, and I think it is very important.” Perhaps that’s a subtle way of his saying that we shouldn’t expect to hear too many more details about the movie for awhile yet.
Star Wars: Episode VII is currently in production for a December 2015 release.
