Last night was released the new “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” trailer and it looks amazing. The new footage premiered during halftime on ESPN’s Monday Night Football. According to Disney’s announcement yesterday, that also signals the beginning of ticket sales for the first showings as well as for a seven-episode Star Wars marathon that starts on December 17th. Disney yesterday also revealed the official poster. Tickets were supposed to go on sale after the trailer’s debut, but most sites released tickets early. The remaining minutes of J. J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens will hit theaters December 18th.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” Two New Teaser Trailers

Two new “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” teasers have been unveiled, ahead of the big trailer reveal during Monday Night Football.

In the first trailer, Poe (Oscar Isaac) and Finn (John Boyega) share a passive glance at one another. In the second trailer, we see small cameos of all of the main characters, including a quick flicker of a lightsaber.

The first extended trailer will air on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” during halftime of the National Football League game between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles in Philadelphia. The game starts at 5:15 p.m. PDT/8:15 p.m. EDT on the cable network, which is owned by Disney.

“The Force Awakens” is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow, with Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker reprising their roles from previous “Star Wars” films. The story is set approximately 30 years after the events of 1983’s “Return of the Jedi.”

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Sets World Premiere Date

Disney and Lucasfilm will unveil Star Wars: The Force Awakens at a massive world premiere in Los Angeles on Dec. 14, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

From there, the highly anticipated sequel will jump into hyperspace and head for a premiere in London, followed by other events around the world.

The Los Angeles premiere is sure to be one of the hottest tickets in recent Hollywood history, with executives, agents and journalists jockeying for a coveted invite. In addition, Disney is attempting to keep the film’s secrets under wraps, so there likely will be minimal screenings for press and cast and crew in advance of the premiere. While castmembers from the J.J. Abrams-helmed film have appeared at Comic-Con and Star Wars Celebration over the past year, the world premiere also is likely to be the first time that most or all of the cast will be seen together.

The Force Awakens will begin to hit theaters on Dec. 17 in the U.K. and Dec. 16 in France, prior to its wide debut in the U.S. on Dec. 18.
